I thought the album was a averagely compiled, but horribly publicized. I mean between the release of "A public affair"- the single, and then the temporary voice problem. Things didnt look good. And the remakes!!!! OMG, i love jessica, but PLEASE STOP! you have more than enough remakes to last you for the rest of your career. AND WHO'S IDEA WAS IT NOT TO RELEASE "FIRED UP"? That is, I believe, THE BEST track on "A Public Affair"-album next to "I belong to Me." This album need a club banger as the first single.. not a bubblegum/sparkly 80's track. Look at mariah. She started off EOM-album with "It's like that"- a regular club banger, and then released the SMASH hit "We Belong together to follow up. Look at Kelly, for breakaway she released "since you been gone"and then followed up with the ballads like "Because of You." "I belong to me" never got the credit it deserved for two reasons.... On IT WASNT EVEN ON ALL THE CD'S!!!!!!!!!! second, it was a follow up to a weak, easily forgetable, 80's first single. Had you released "Fired Up" as the first track with a catchy dance video. It would have been probably your biggest hit, and would have easily pushed "A Public Affair"-album to platinum success. The release and marketing of this CD was poorly thought out and thats why it didnt take of. Not to mention, that only about half of the songs are worth listening too. Songs like "Push Your Tush" and "spin bottle around"-another remake, just clottered the album with 80's tracks that no one likes. You can't remake the 80's yet, it just finished! Christina could get away with the 20's because it's forgotten and is coming back in style! I love jessica and I think she has an amazing voice, but this album was, i believe, a big mistake. You should do much more songs like "Fired Up" since thats where the evolution of pop has taken us. Not to mention, Jessica is damb good at that sound. When i make people listen to "Fired Up" they swear its not Jessica. A sound like that is perfect to reinvent jessica. Something needs to be done soon before its too late. Also Jessica has this new country/winning/straining voice that i'm sure everyone has noticed by now. She never used to sing like that, and i dont know who told her it was fine, but its not. I mean before she used to just let the notes flow out. She has a NATURAL, PURE, GREAT voice. NO NEED FOR STRAINING! And remember ballads aren't old. But Bubble-gum ballads ARE. Ballads with soul are great these days. "We belong together" was the biggest hit on the PLANET in 2005. But you got to have a club banger to ignite the fire of the album. I think even now, if "fired up" was released, Epic would see much more profit than they saw with the first two singles. But it has to be coupled with a sexy classy dance video. I know other fans know what i'm talking about. It sux to say, but bubble gum isnt in, and no you cant remake it in the next 2 years!-lol. stick with the trend. You can't go wrong with a GREAT voice and Scott Storch in the producer chair. Good luck jessica. I'm waiting for your next hit! God Bless, and please take this review as CONSTRUCTIVE criticism!-peace.
