My Take on this!
You can't go wrong with scott storch. "Fired Up" would have been a great single that would have jump started this album to much higher success. "A Public Affair" was to 80's(way to recent to remake...so please dont try) and "I belong to me" was sung very breathy, but even with that, was a GREAT song, that would have been a great follow up single to "Fired Up." I want to see more of this on your next album... It sux to say, but Bubble gum is done. And the 80's has been done. Most people that i make listen to "Fired Up" swears it isnt jessica simpson. This is exactly what Jessica needs to re invent yourself. No one is saying to go "ghetto" lol.. but a great club banger never hurt anyone! I think Jessica's next CD should definatly be Hip-Hop/Dance inspired. That is where pop has lead the music industry. It is the current sound of the everlasting pop evolution. PLEASE TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION. YOU CANT GO WRONG WITH AN AMAZING VOICE. AND ESPECIALLY NOT WHEN PRODUCED BY SCOTT STORCH. The only mistake you made with "fired up" was not releasing it. A sexy(not skanky) video would have surely been a nice complement to the song and would have given people a reason to respect Jessica as an artist. The direction the "A Public Affair" album took was backwards. Expecially for her carreer.. Please get Scott Storch back in the studio with Jessica and make some MAGIC PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!! and remember a ballad like "I belong to me" is fine..but eventually it gets boring.. especially when pop has evolved away from that style. Also...I don't like that way Jessica has been singing/breathing... Its as if she doesnt have enough air and she just keeps straining like she's trying to pop one out. This is not nearly wat she did before. She let the notes flow out and did it effortlessly. When she sings now all you think is "winy" and "pooping." no one likes that. I think with a few club bangers and a FEW vocal lessons(to take away the breathy/straining thing) Her NEXT album will soar to the top! COUNT ON IT. "A public affair" was just the wrong turn at the fork-road. JESSICA HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE GREAT. AND "A public affair" didnt display her star-quality one bit... except of coure..."fired up."
