It's a good album, but I prefer her third ''In this skin'' because she proove that she became a woman. In this new album, I think she just want to show to her fans that she wanted to have fun. Seriously, I'm proud to see that she collaborated of all of these song in the CD :) But, at first, when the medias told that her new album will suppose to be a little bit country, I was exciting. Maybe the next time, we will heard that! I can't wait to heard some news songs! ^^
After In This Skin, divorce, Nick Lachey and heartbreaking reports what would you expect from Jessica's new step on music?
Well, I was expecting a slow, mid-tempo, dark album with some sadly influences from her previous effort. But I was wrong, so so so wrong and thank you Jessica for that. Wether Jess was having a bd time or not she decided to knock it off and have some fun as you can notice in lyrics such as:
'All the girls comin out for a public affar, all night lets rock cause the party dont stop' from the first single off the album entitled A Public Affair.
and party never stopped baby. At least during her take on Dead's or Alive classic You Spin me Round featuring Jessica's own words and the pleasure 80's cheesy-pop B.O.Y.
Scott Storch also got together with Jessica and brought the summer hit Fired Up, Jess is sexier than ever and breathy vocals make you just wanna dance.
In this album you can find from pop through 50's beats (in the funky Swing with Me) and softs ballads as Back to You and my favorite track I Dont Want to Care, one of the best songs Jessica has ever sung. Be ready for Jessica's breakaway in 'The Lover In Me' up-tempo song featuring beautiful lyrics.
And you can find much more in this delightful, fun, piece of pop perfection. Its all in just one album, all in A Public Affair.
In my opinion, its a solid pop album, not my fave of Jess (my fave is In This Skin) but, its good! Have a great tones for sure, but, i think the album needs a little more vocalizations. It have such a good songs like "Walkin Round In a Circle" (one of the best Jessica songs ever), "Fired Up" (We want this as single! lol), "Between You and I" (Its a really good song! the old vibe is very good!), "The Lover In Me" (the sound is amazing, very catchy and Jess voice sounds really good) and "You Spin Me Round" (for sure a dancefloor hit).
Anyways, Jessica do a great work! For sure make her life a little happier in that time recording this songs! I think its a little late, but, i want a next single! :)
I like pretty much all of the songs except for Push your tush...That song is just kind of annoying to me. I guess you just sorta have to be in the mood to listen to it. But I love: I don't want to care, Fired up, let him fly, I belong to me, A public affair, and walkin' around in a circle...Those are my favorites! But in general I really liked this album
I loved this album since the very first time I listened to it and I keep doing that almost every day, I wish Jess could give to us some more really good songs.
I Belong To Me
The Lover In Me
Push Your Tush (when Im in the mood)
I just dont feel that this album meets up to her last one at all. Heck, I can tell by the radio play! Come on Jess, give me a good album next time! Love ya girl, but not the kind of music you did on this CD.
Jessica Simpson's new album "a public affair" is great! all the songs a really good "feel good " vibe to them. But one thing that is lacking is the strength and beauty of Jessica's powerful voice! She doesnt use her gifted voice to its full potential! thats the only downside to this album!

I'm a 25 year old woman married woman living in the South West of Turkey living life to the full with my Turkish husband.
I have been a huge fan of Jessica Simpson's since her blow away debut single "I Wanna Love You Forever" since hearing her gorgeous
Why this album flopped? I mean i love this album and it's one my favorites in 2006. It could've been saved if she hardly promote the album. I still love Jess though! I'm looking forward for the next album!
The first time I heard 'APA' (song), i was actually really shocked... I never expected Jess to do dance music, and especially after what happened by the end of 2005. I was really expecting the album to sound a bit more like 'In This Skin'... A Little More Soulful, A Little Less Fun.
Then the day of the release i spent an hour in the stores waiting for the album... It finally came, and while i was hearing to it, a lot of mixed feelind went through my mind...
*'A Public Affair': By that time, i got accostumed to the first track, and i really liked it and stil so.
*'You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)': Is the best dance song of the record and i can not stay a day without listening to it. It can turn a normal person into a Jessica Simpson's fan.
*'B.O.Y.': When i read it's name, the first thing that appeared in my mind was: b.o.y.?? very simmilar to Ash's l.o.v.e.??... I hope it is not that simmilar, please! It did not disappointed me anything, at all!
*'If You Were Mine': I loved it from the first time and i keep, i was sure it was going to be the single.
*'Walkin' 'Round In A Circle': The kind of song i expected from this album, very personal, very real, very Jess's way.
*'The Lover In Me': Simply THE BEST TRACK EVER MADE BY JESS!! Inspired by Madonna's 'Like A Prayer', produced by incomparable Lester Mendez it's the best song of all times.
*'Swing With Me': It's fun when you're in the right mood, but it actually makes Aguilera's 'Back To Basics' seem better of what it really is.
*'Push Your Tush': Well, i don't know what was she really thinking, and what was the label thinking when the song was presented. It's a wrong sequel of These Boots.. It wouldn't sound as that if there was not as many background vocals, and that country part in the middle of the song. Don't misunderstand me, i love country music but this weird mix didn't make it right. It really disappoints me from Jam & Lewis who are some of 'the #1' from the bussines.
*'Back To You': It's a great song eventhough i don't like very much. It's not my style. But its beat and vocal arrangement is amazing.
*'Between You & I': It's The other Amazing song from the album, this is what I really expected!! But, it sounds like something i've already heard before.
*'I Don't Wanna Care': It almost make me cry, and i'm not a sentimental guy! It's the song that reflects Jess's true feelings of early 2006.
*'Fired Up': What can i say?? The unfinish version that leakesd into the Internet was really great, but the final vocal arrangements did mesed the song up. It makes Britney seem good.
*'Let Him Fly': It speaks by itself.........It's spectacular!!!!!
*'I Belong To Me': The worst mistake in Jess's career. The worst option for the 2nd single... The video version (radio edit), by the other hand sounds pretty good.
In conclusion, many people may say that this record leaks of originality, this is an album inspired by the 80's...may be she (and her team) could have made some effort and add some material of her own. But 'A Public Affiar' is by now Jess's best album (in music terms), being as much objective as i can...
This would be my singles selection in order... i have to models:
*'A Public Affair'
*'If You Were Mine'
*'You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)'
*'The Lover In Me'
(And may be 'Fired Up' if there's a chance for a fifth single)
And the lower profile one....
*'I Belong To Me'
*'You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)'
*'A Public Affair'
*'I Don't Want To Care'
Well, i hope this review has helped everyone who is reading to find in this album what they are really looking for. I'm sorry if you do not think the same way.
But it really lacks of Jess's wonderfull vocal skills, Jess i really miss your live performances....
Also i liked the demo of 'Sexified' and i would have like the album to feature Dusty Springfield's 'Son Of A Preacher Man'.
Thanks for taking your time to read my thoughts, if you have any doubts or questions contact me to gas_dev@hotmail.com or to my profile here. Thanks & good luck!!!!!

"Push you tush" is kinda of a fun funky song that makes you smile a little for all the silly girlie things. :)
I enjoy the whole album... still haven't skipped a song when listening to it. ;)

"Never save something for a special moment, because each day is a special moment."
I loved this album, it sounded very different to the others. It was more funky and some of the songs sounded very 80‘s. I really enjoy listening to it. I have to disagree with some of the reviews people have written as I think this album is fantastic. Jessica really expressed her feelings and emotions through the meanings of a few of the songs. My personal favourites would have to Be:
A public affair
Walkin’ ‘Round in a circle
The lover in me
I don’t want to care
Let him fly
This album was outstanding!! I cant wait for the next one!!
This album didn't do as well as it could because of the single choices. I really feel that it could have been a success. Jessica had just gone through a divorce and her fans wanted real emotion. When she released 'A Public Affair' I was shocked that she was trying to make it seem like she was ok. I think Jessica wanted her fans to think that she was fine. We all know she was going through a lot. As her fans, we want truth and honesty in her music. She has always given us that in her previous albums and on Newlyweds. I understand that she probably decided it was best to keep her personal life out of it, but we love her because she lets us in.
Don't ever be afraid to share your truth with us Jessica. It's why we love you!
The most honest track is 'I Belong To Me' which wasn't even supposed to be on the CD. Meanwhile, Nick released songs from his heart and had booming success with his album. I also love 'I don't want to care'. You can hear the pain in her voice and it's beautiful. She sounds great in all the tracks. If I had been in charge of her single releases, it would have been... 1) I Belong To Me (this would have made people interested in hearing the rest of what she'd have to say in the album. 2) Fired Up. (I love this song. That would be the perfect time to say, yes I was hurt, but now I'm fired up. Also, it has a sound unlike any other Jessica Simpson song we've ever heard. It would have broadened her fan base to people who have never been interested in her). It also didn't help that she lost her voice for her promo tour. They should have done another round of live performances once she healed.
I wish her all the success in the World and I cannot wait to hear the next album (whenever that may be).
JESSICAS BEST ALBUMS ARE:
"IN THE SKIN " and "Re-Joyce"
I have some favorites songs from A public Affair too....something like I belong to me...Let him fly & Between You & I ....bye Jess love ya specially your style...i enjoy visiting websites about ur closet...Im a big fan of YOU and I'm in love with your style..KISS...
I think A Public Affair is Jessica's best album to date. I love the variety of styles she attempts on this album, from fast, upbeat songs like "Fired Up" to country-inspired songs like "Push Your Tush" to slow classics like "I Belong To Me."
I THOUGHT THE ALBUM WAS A LET DOWN. I THINK SHE WAS AND STILL IS GOING THROUGH LOTS OF FEELINGS FROM NICK AND EVERYTHING. I'M JUST GLAD SHES NOT GOING OFF THE TOTAL DEEP END LIKE BRITNEY!
I'M STILL A BIG FAN AND I THINK HER NEXT ALBUM WILL BE BETTER.
I thought the album was a averagely compiled, but horribly publicized. I mean between the release of "A public affair"- the single, and then the temporary voice problem. Things didnt look good. And the remakes!!!! OMG, i love jessica, but PLEASE STOP! you have more than enough remakes to last you for the rest of your career. AND WHO'S IDEA WAS IT NOT TO RELEASE "FIRED UP"? That is, I believe, THE BEST track on "A Public Affair"-album next to "I belong to Me." This album need a club banger as the first single.. not a bubblegum/sparkly 80's track. Look at mariah. She started off EOM-album with "It's like that"- a regular club banger, and then released the SMASH hit "We Belong together to follow up. Look at Kelly, for breakaway she released "since you been gone"and then followed up with the ballads like "Because of You." "I belong to me" never got the credit it deserved for two reasons.... On IT WASNT EVEN ON ALL THE CD'S!!!!!!!!!! second, it was a follow up to a weak, easily forgetable, 80's first single. Had you released "Fired Up" as the first track with a catchy dance video. It would have been probably your biggest hit, and would have easily pushed "A Public Affair"-album to platinum success. The release and marketing of this CD was poorly thought out and thats why it didnt take of. Not to mention, that only about half of the songs are worth listening too. Songs like "Push Your Tush" and "spin bottle around"-another remake, just clottered the album with 80's tracks that no one likes. You can't remake the 80's yet, it just finished! Christina could get away with the 20's because it's forgotten and is coming back in style! I love jessica and I think she has an amazing voice, but this album was, i believe, a big mistake. You should do much more songs like "Fired Up" since thats where the evolution of pop has taken us. Not to mention, Jessica is damb good at that sound. When i make people listen to "Fired Up" they swear its not Jessica. A sound like that is perfect to reinvent jessica. Something needs to be done soon before its too late. Also Jessica has this new country/winning/straining voice that i'm sure everyone has noticed by now. She never used to sing like that, and i dont know who told her it was fine, but its not. I mean before she used to just let the notes flow out. She has a NATURAL, PURE, GREAT voice. NO NEED FOR STRAINING! And remember ballads aren't old. But Bubble-gum ballads ARE. Ballads with soul are great these days. "We belong together" was the biggest hit on the PLANET in 2005. But you got to have a club banger to ignite the fire of the album. I think even now, if "fired up" was released, Epic would see much more profit than they saw with the first two singles. But it has to be coupled with a sexy classy dance video. I know other fans know what i'm talking about. It sux to say, but bubble gum isnt in, and no you cant remake it in the next 2 years!-lol. stick with the trend. You can't go wrong with a GREAT voice and Scott Storch in the producer chair. Good luck jessica. I'm waiting for your next hit! God Bless, and please take this review as CONSTRUCTIVE criticism!-peace.
i think this cd didn't come from jessica's heart. i mean it's good but this cd is not jessica. the only songs that have soul in this cd are i belong to me and let him fly. i think jeaaica's next single should be the lover in me because people can relate to it. but i do like the fact that the cd has some fast fun and upbeat songs on it. The reason why Nic's cd did so good is because he opened up and let his fans in to his life and what he was feeling. If Jessica makes another (which she should) she should go back to her ballads and gospel roots like in sweet kisses. she had ballads like i wanna love you forever and gospel songs like your faith in me. jessica's next cd is gonna be big tho because mariah carey is gonna help her.
ALWAYS A MAJOR FAN!
Love, JESSICASIMPSONROX
p.s. cant wait to see BlondAmbition!
im a big fan of jessica but i didnt like the cd that much i did like i belong to me, public affair, The Lover In Me and other. i think she should of talk about her feelings in th cd. but i hope she does a better one in her next cd
--
she was borne to sing i love you jess .i think that the album is one of the best that i keep in my phone lots a variety of style thats quit good and the best song ever of jessica i belong to me thank you for
I love Jessicas music. I do agree though with some of the comments above, that it wasn't publicised as well as it could have been. Jess has such great potential to be a huge singing star and be recognised more for her singing than her public persona. I am waiting on a country/folk album from this girl.
I think that coming from the south shes a country star waiting to happen :)
I love her but i don't think that this cd reflects all of her vocal potential. is not that she has to sing just ballads like ''i wanna love you forever'' is just taht i know she can give more, but we'll see if her new found strengh brings up another path vocaly speaking that she didn't even know that existed.. All i say i'm saying it very respectfully. you can be a big fan but that doesn't mean that everything is going to sound good sometimes our idols need to know what we really think, that's what number one fan title comes with.

HI EVERYBODY!!! I PLEASE VOTE FOR FIRED UP TO BE JESSICA'S 3rd SINGLE PLEASE..
WE ALL KNOW THAT IT WOULD BE A BIG HIT, CAUZ IT HAS SEXYNESS AND ALL THOSE STAFF... PLEASE MAKE MY WISH COME TRUE LOL.. BUT PLEASE VOTE FOR FIRED UP.
I think this album was ok but some of the songs were just corney and lacked vocal difficulty, which Jessica is so VERY capable of singing her heart out and I think she should do so, I love her and I wish nothing but the best for this young lady. I think she is a good actress, lots too learn but don't we all.. I am a nurse and i never stop learning.. You go Jess.. You are amazing and "you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you" .... SMN

Best Album Yet
I think A Public Affair is Jessica's best album to date. I love the variety of styles she attempts on this album, from fast, upbeat songs like "Fired Up" to country-inspired songs like "Push Your Tush" to slow classics like "I Belong To Me."
JESSICA'S NEW CD
I THOUGHT THE ALBUM WAS A LET DOWN. I THINK SHE WAS AND STILL IS GOING THROUGH LOTS OF FEELINGS FROM NICK AND EVERYTHING. I'M JUST GLAD SHES NOT GOING OFF THE TOTAL DEEP END LIKE BRITNEY!
I'M STILL A BIG FAN AND I THINK HER NEXT ALBUM WILL BE BETTER.
MY Take
I thought the album was a averagely compiled, but horribly publicized.

"Fired Up" is where the money's at!
A Public Affair
i think this cd didn't come from jessica's heart. i mean it's good but this cd is not jessica. the only songs that have soul in this cd are i belong to me and let him fly. i think jeaaica's next single should be the lover in me because people can relate to it. but i do like the fact that the cd has some fast fun and upbeat songs on it.

I love Jessicas Music
I love Jessicas music. I do agree though with some of the comments above, that it wasn't publicised as well as it could have been. Jess has such great potential to be a huge singing star and be recognised more for her singing than her public persona. I am waiting on a country/folk album from this girl.
I think that coming from the south shes a country star waiting to happen :)
Well if it was what she wanted.....

FIRED UP
HI EVERYBODY!!!
Sing Jess Sing
I think this album was ok but some of the songs were just corney and lacked vocal difficulty, which Jessica is so VERY capable of singing her heart out and I think she should do so, I love her and I wish nothing but the best for this young lady. I think she is a good actress, lots too learn but don't we all.. I am a nurse and i never stop learning.. You go Jess.. You are amazing and "you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you" .... SMN
